Leadership - Student & Family Services

Kimberly Miles

Kim Miles has served as the school system’s Assistant Superintendent for Student & Family Services since Jan. 1, 2016.  The Division of Student & Family Services provides support and direction in areas including enrollment, student attendance, transportation, school guidance, mental health, Special Education, FIT (Families in Transition) services, school safety, school programs and school health services. In addition to the division’s work with schools, the Student & Family Services team continues to work directly with our school families on enrollment and transfer requests, assistance with resources, and matters of health and safety in the school setting. Student & Family Services maintains a wide array of ongoing collaborations with community agencies and partners to support the health, safety and wellness of students.  Together they work to remove barriers and build bridges for all students in our schools.

A graduate of Delmar Junior/Senior High, Kim Miles received her Bachelor of Arts in English Education from what was then known as Salisbury State College. She began her career in education in Wicomico County in 1988, teaching ILA – Integrated Language Arts and Grade 8 English at Bennett Middle. She served as the first secondary MSPAP coach in Wicomico County, focusing on supporting and guiding teachers in the use of a variety of instructional strategies, management strategies and assessment strategies. She earned her Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from Salisbury State University and entered the world of school administration, first as Assistant Principal at Pittsville Elementary and Middle in 1999 and then Wicomico Middle in 2001. She was appointed Principal of Wicomico Middle in 2003 and had many rewarding experiences as she continued to seek ways to challenge, support, and move forward the many students, staff and families with whom she worked. As a believer in the power of learning and challenging her professional and personal growth, Mrs. Miles transitioned into the position of Director of Secondary Education in 2007. In 2014, she became the Director of Student & Family Services and in January 2016 she was named the Assistant Superintendent for Student & Family Services. In both positions she and her team serve all schools, students and families in Wicomico County Public Schools.

Mrs. Miles and her husband, Chris, are both longtime educators with Wicomico County Public Schools. Their children are graduates of Wicomico High School.
