Wicomico's new teachers for 2026-2027

Wicomico County Public Schools has welcomed 117 new teachers for the 2026-2027 school year.

Most of the new teachers – “new” means anyone in a certificated teaching position who is new to Wicomico Schools since early in the last school year – participated in the New Teacher Summer Academy, part of the support they will receive all year long from the New Teacher Induction Program. New teachers’ official first day was Thursday, Aug. 20, which started with a welcome breakfast with school and school system leaders and ended with them in their classrooms.

About 30 percent of new Wicomico teachers graduated from Wicomico County Public Schools. About 38 percent are brand new to teaching, 47 percent have teaching experience in another school system, and 15 percent are coming into teaching after working in another profession. New Wicomico teachers range in experience from zero days to more than 30 years.
