Good evening RAMFAM! This is your proud Parkside principal, Brian Briggs. We had another great week here at Parkside and here are just a few highlights:

·      We celebrated St. Parkside Week with spirit days and other activities throughout the week culminating in a Color Run Friday afternoon after school.  Thank you to our SGA for sponsoring the week and events!

·      Our AP Spanish students put on 3 plays, Cinderella, Snow White, and Little Red Riding Hood, for Beaver Run Elementary School students.  We love to see our students and classes give back to the local community and schools.

·      We had an amazing CTE PAC Dinner on Wednesday where our CTE teams met with local community partners, everyone was treated to a world class dinner supplied by CTE Culinary, and students in horticulture and Project Lead the Way presented either research or projects to our community partners.

·      Parkside High and the A+ Garden Centre is proud to announce that we have been named a 2025 Proven Winners Certified Garden Center. This high-level distinction signifies that our student employees have completed a comprehensive training course to develop the expertise in assisting our customers in choosing and growing Proven Winners plants successfully.

·      Rich Kaiser, Parkside CTE Criminal Justice teacher, was announced as a finalist (1 of 3) for Wicomico County Public Schools Rising Star Award. The winner will be announced on April 10th at the Wicomico County Teacher of the Year Celebration.

·      Our Parkside CTE house is moving along nicely with electricity and carpentry students installing insulation this week.

·      Our Parkside Math team top scorers were announced: Varsity were Nathaniel Arvi, Rachel Arvi, and Helen Weng while JV were Abigail Tan, Macaulley Jimmerson, and Addison Apolenis.

·      Sports highlights:

1.     We had several Parkside seniors play in the Bayside Senior Basketball games.

2.     We had Opening Day for spring sports on Friday with JV baseball, JV softball, and boys tennis all winning.

3.     This coming week will see all of our spring sports teams beginning their seasons.  Make sure you come on out to support our RAMFAM student athletes.

I am a big believer in communication and making sure that everyone knows what is happening here at Parkside, home of the RAMS. See below for important updates/reminders and dates over the next few months.

Important dates upcoming:

·      April 7th – End of 3rd marking term and early dismissal

·      April – 17th – Early dismissal

·      April 18th-21st – Spring Break

·      April 28th – Teacher Visitation 4 – 6 PM

Updates/Reminders:

·      There are only 11 days left in the 3rd marking term.  Please remind your child of the importance of finishing strong each term and staying focused on their academics.  Just a reminder that the 3rd marking term GPA is what determines prom eligibility, as well as continued spring sports participation. We have great extra curriculars here at Parkside CTE, but you must maintain a 2.0 GPA to participate in them.  Let’s make sure that all students stay eligible by staying focused on academics.

·      As counselors prepare for student registration in April, we have included an information sheet about the 3 & Out program for students who may be interested in graduating in three years. We hope this helps answer any questions you or your student may have about the process. Transcript history will be reviewed with each student during individual registration meetings, which will assist in determining eligibility to participate in the program.

·      Families, we appreciate your perspective! Please take a few moments to complete the survey linked in this message about "Move This World". Your input will help us refine and strengthen the program for our students. https://forms.gle/SLvg4U84qhHGeyy3A

·      Local food pantries during the month of March.

March Food Pantries

·      This is just a reminder that before and after school, students should be dropped off and picked up in the Schumaker Drive bus loop/drivers pick up parking lot. The parking lot off Beaglin is a tight parking lot and is needed for our CTE busses. In addition, with spring sports beginning, this is just a reminder that we are not permitted to park in the Schumaker Complex staff parking lot. This parking lot will be coned off so it should be easy to see where we can’t park.

Testing updates:

·      School Climate Survey-This Tuesday, March 25th during 2nd period, all students in grades 9-11 will take the school climate survey for the Maryland State Department of Education.  This feedback from students is important to our school and our school’s report card to the state providing feedback on learning environment, climate, and safety, so please encourage your child to take this seriously, read carefully and answer honestly.  The survey is confidential, and school personnel will not have access to the responses of specific students. The responses your child provides will be combined with the responses from other students in the school, and results will be reported for each school and district.  Please refer to the attached letter for more details.

Thank you again RAMFAM for all you do! I am so proud to work with so many great students, families, and staff.

Thanks,

Brian
