Teachers officially kicked off the year on August 21st, preparing for the arrival of our scholars! The week of August 25th was packed with powerful PD—refining our vision, analyzing data, diving into new curriculum resources, and incorporating technology training. On August 27th, our amazing support staff joined the mission, and we also welcomed our new Dean of Students, Ms. April Guard! We are on a Mission Possible: 💯% student growth! Please note that schools and offices of Wicomico County Public Schools will open at 11 a.m. Thursday so that all staff members may attend a Staff Kickoff Celebration for the 2025-2026 school year.
Wicomico County Public Schools successfully applied for a partnership with Soles4Souls through its 4EveryKid campaign. This campaign provides brand-new sneakers to students in need. Wicomico Schools received 250 pairs of sneakers and Bombas socks to distribute to identified students, based on available sizes.
At a distribution event held at East Salisbury Elementary this week for, 54 students from throughout Wicomico Schools received a new pair of sneakers for the school year, with able assistance from the team of Community School Coordinators.
The initial outreach was to families of students identified by pupil personnel workers as a family in transition. If there are still shoes and socks available when these students have been served, Wicomico’s Student & Family Services may provide shoes to other students and scholars who are in need.

Thanks to all of the dedicated leaders from throughout Wicomico County Public Schools who committed their Thursday to taking part in the School Safety Summit, held at James M. Bennett High. The summit was put on by the Department of School Climate and Safety,, and was led by Tara O'Barsky, Director of School Climate & Safety, and members of her team.
The day's focus was on the first of Superintendent of Schools Dr. Micah Stauffer's strategic priorities: School Climate & Safety. Participants learned more about:

What a joy it was to attend the Spring Concert on Wednesday, May 7th featuring our sweet Kindergarten and Pre-K students! They did such a great job — singing their hearts out, smiling bright, and bringing so much joy to everyone in the room. Thank you to Ms. Knight, the teachers and staff who made this special event possible. Our little ones are growing, learning, and shining — and we couldn’t be prouder!

On vacation at her grandpa’s, a little girl named Mia accidentally discovers a mysterious piece of astronomical machinery. Edmund, Mia’s eccentric uncle, tricks the girl into using the tool’s secret powers to change the world’s seasons. She realizes the consequences of what they are going to do, but Edmund doesn’t want to let the plan go.
Magic Globe’s engaging story has a clear educational structure, designed to interest and challenge children from 5 to 12 years. Children can recap their prior knowledge and/or learn new concepts while the story carries everyone forward together, making it perfect for mixed-ability audiences.
Shows are on Wednesday, May 21, Thursday, May 22 and Friday, May 23 in the Parkside Planetarium. There is one show per night, at 6 p.m., first come, first seated.
