📚❤️ Day 2 of Read Across America Week! ❤️📚
We loved welcoming more amazing community partners and staff readers today!
Local author and West Salisbury WATCH D.O.G., Mr. Bateman, shared stories with Ms. Cunningham’s and Mrs. Gilmore’s classes. Ms. Whitney from Spice Bazaar read to Ms. Florio’s class, and our very own Mrs. Somers enjoyed reading with Ms. Lawson’s class.

Our Wild About Reading Spirit Week continues for Read Across America!🌿📚
Wednesday: Jungle Jamboree! 🐆🌴
Wear your favorite animal print or dress in green like the jungle to show your wild reading spirit!
We can’t wait to see our school looking like a reading rainforest! 🐾✨

Today we kicked off Read Across America Week with our first guest reader, Dr. Stauffer, Superintendent of Wicomico County Public Schools! He visited Ms. Truitt’s Prekindergarten class and shared a special story to start our celebration of reading.
We’re excited to welcome more guest readers throughout the week. Each classroom will have a special visitor read to them as we celebrate our love of reading! 📚✨

We’re continuing our Wild About Reading Spirit Week for Read Across America! 🐒📚
Tuesday: “Tou-Can” Read Anything! 🐦✨
Show your spirit by wearing black with bright colors — just like a colorful toucan!
We love seeing our students celebrate the joy of reading in fun and creative ways! 🖤📖

These students met their reading and math goals and were rewarded with a special treat — a book from our Book Vending Machine! 📚✨
We are so proud of their hard work and dedication. Keep reaching for those goals, Kindergarten! 💙

We are excited to celebrate our January Ripley’s Incredible Kids Award winners! 🎉
These students were chosen by their teachers for demonstrating outstanding behavior, leadership, and hard work. As a special reward, each student received a ticket for their entire family to visit Ripley's Believe It or Not! in Ocean City!

We can’t wait to see everyone show their wild reading spirit! 🐾✨

We are proud of our students for showing dedication and commitment to being at school each day! Improved attendance means more learning, more growth, and more success. Keep up the great work — every day counts! 📚✨

And a big round of applause for our lightning-fast student who made it into the Cup Stacking Sub-5 Second Club — stacking with speed and precision in under 5 seconds! ⚡
We are so proud of their focus, perseverance, and hard work. Keep jumping, stacking, and shining! ⭐👏

Please note that this will use the final make-up day built into the approved school calendar. After this closure, Wicomico Schools will be ready to transition to a virtual instruction day the next time conditions necessitate the closure of school buildings.
