This will be our second year aligning our students chosen at homecoming with our school motto of Sailing the Clipper Way. Students can nominate classmates to be considered for our First Class Clipper. Our First Class Clippers should meet the 3 points of being a Clipper, meaning they are Anchored in Respect, Navigate Responsibility, and Charting Excellence. Students should select other students in their grade level who are deserving of this award and nominate them for the First Class Clipper.

JMB Homecoming 2024

This is our second year naming chosen students at homecoming who exemplify our school motto of Sailing the Clipper Way. A First Class Clipper should meet the 3 points of Sailing the Clipper way, meaning they are Anchored in Respect, Navigate Responsibility, and are Charting Excellence. Students should select other students in their grade level who are deserving of this award and nominate them for the First Class Clipper. Students nominated must meet the criteria of Sailing the Clipper Way to go further with the selection process. Your First Class Clippers from each grade will be named at the homecoming game on Thursday, October 10th, during the half-time performance.

We had a fantastic time hosting a representative from McDaniel College yesterday morning! A big shoutout to the students who attended to learn more about the college’s programs and opportunities. Your enthusiasm for exploring your future is inspiring! 🎓✨

Seniors need help with college essays?

James M. Bennett
Named to Advanced Placement School Honor Roll
The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening access. Schools can earn this recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.

On Oct. 4, the 2024-2025 Wicomico Teacher of the Year, Debbie Reynolds (Wicomico Middle), joined the other 23 local teachers of the year from across the state at the Maryland Teacher of the Year Gala in Hunt Valley. Wicomico Schools had a fantastic time celebrating and supporting its top teacher, who in addition to teaching at Wicomico Middle is a graduate of James M. Bennett High and a former student of Bennett Middle, Prince Street Elementary, and Pittsville Elementary and Miiddle.. Thank you Ms. Reynolds for being such a fantastic representative of Wicomico County Public Schools, where our students are Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow.
Ms. Reynolds will continue to serve as Wicomico Teacher of the Year into April, when the 2025-2026 Wicomico Teacher of the Year is announced. That outstanding teacher is teaching in one of our schools right now, and your chance to nominate a deserving teacher for recognition is coming soon, starting Nov. 1.

The attached image is a reminder that students need identification to enter the homecoming dance. This graphic shows them the 2 forms of ID that they can screenshot from e-hall pass to use if they don’t have any other form of ID.

Arrive to Thrive Attendance Awareness Campaign
It's so important to be present and on time to school.

We are pleased to announce that Austin Loar is a National Merit Scholar Semi-Finalist. We are so proud of him and wish him well during the next phase of the process. Congratulations Austin!
The National Merit Scholarship Program is an annual academic competition among high school students for recognition and college undergraduate scholarships that began in 1955. The program is conducted by National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®), a not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance. United States high school students enter the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®), which serves as an initial screen of over 1.3 million entrants each year, and by meeting published program entry and participation requirements.

Exciting day for these juniors and seniors! Our career coach took a fantastic group of students who are eager to take the next steps toward achieving their goals to UMES. They explored a college fair with over 50 tables full of information and even got a firsthand look at UMES, discovering what it’s like to be a hawk! 🌟📚 #FutureLeaders #CollegeBound #BlueprintInAction
