Since MMHS doesn’t have football, they got in a couple of downs on the wrestling mat after a tough practice. The young team is off to a great start with a 4-0 record.

To meet state graduation and federal testing requirements, students who are currently enrolled in Algebra 1, English 10, Biology, or Government will be taking the Maryland Comprehensive Assessment in classes the week of January 8-11. If your student completed the Algebra 1 assessment in 8th grade, they will be taking the MCAP assessment in their current High School math course. Most students will be completing testing during their normal class times. After returning from winter break, students who are testing will receive a Student Testing Schedule indicating the period(s) and location(s) where they will be completing their testing during that week. Remember it is critical students participate and do their absolute best since these are graduation requirements, and the biology assessment accounts for 20% of the final grade of the course for 9th grade students. If you have questions or concerns, please contact our school testing coordinator, April Shiles, at ashiles@wcboe.org

One of our students, Laelah Justice has been a member of Main Street gym for six years and won her first fight on December 9th. She dominated her opponent with powerful accurate punches and continued until the referee stopped the bout in the third round. Her performance not only got her the win, but also the Junious Hinton Fighter of the event Trophy. Mardela’s staff is very proud of this young lady and we give her our highest hope in her next competition in Georgia for the Regional Silver gloves.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! We have earned a 4-star rating AGAIN this year! Both our middle and high schools were rated four stars by Maryland’s ESSA rating. Our high school scored as a solid 4-star school. OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL IS EXTREMELY CLOSE TO A FIVE STAR RATING!!! We are so fortunate to be able to work at this amazing school with such amazing educators and staff. This is a school-wide honor – it took every single one of us to earn this recognition. https://reportcard.msde.maryland.gov/

MMHS TAD Forensic Fair was a success as students analyzed ink, shoe castings, arson patterns, handwriting, and dental impressions. Students also shared their amazing crime boards which demonstrate the importance of evidence collection.
