Behind The Line chose Mr. Hastings' 5th period AP Computer Science class to have a session with their therapy dogs. Scout and Benji lowered the cortisol levels for all students, teachers, and anyone passing by who got to visit them. What an amazing program! Thank you Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Phippin from Behind the Line for choosing us and allowing us to share in the canine love!

Good afternoon Warrior parents of middle school students:

We are pleased to announce an exciting new course request process for the 2026–2027 school year for all secondary schools.

Beginning March 25, students and parents/guardians will be able to log into Family Portal to view teacher recommendations for the upcoming school year and submit course requests. Course selections are based on established prerequisites and grade-level requirements. Please review the attached brief video to assist you with this process. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-naKqcqWL0

We will also be hosting a parent meeting tomorrow, March 25, at 7:00 pm to review the process in person. We hope to see you there.

Our Middle School Choir members had a fantastic day at the middle school district choral festival yesterday. On a scale of 1-5, 1 being the best; 5 being the worst, our group scored a 1 and a 2, with the judges repeatedly commenting on our "small but mighty power". Even being the smallest choir there and singing songs on a more difficult level and in different languages, they still managed to score 1s and 2s. Beyond just the performance, our hosts at WiHi made several comments about how professional, respectful and encouraging our choir members were. They represented Mardela well and made us proud. Our High School Choir members will be traveling to Parkside on Thursday for the same event!

"Peyton Brown and Cole Cervantes recently presented their creation of a dust detecting program for Project Lead The Way. They 3D printed a housing for the sensors and programmed a computer program to detect any dust. They imagine this being used in an automotive setting where the air intake is being scanned for dust / impurities, or in a NASA type engineering situation where cleanliness is imperative. They did an amazing job creating and presenting their project."

Tuesday, March 31 during 2nd period

On Tuesday, March 31st during 2nd period, all students in grades 6-11 will take the school climate survey for the Maryland State Department of Education. Students taking classes at other WCPS schools will take the climate at that school but will answer the questions about the home school. This feedback from students is important to our school and our school’s report card to the state providing feedback on learning environment, climate, and safety, so please encourage your child to take this seriously, read carefully and answer honestly while sharing our love for MMHS. The survey is confidential, and school personnel will not have access to the responses of specific students. The responses your child provides will be combined with the responses from other students in the school, and results will be reported for each school and district. Additional information can be found in our student slides, county climate survey letter and at Maryland School Survey website.
