PAUSE FOR PAWS
Two of our Parkside Marching RAMS, Gabi Saintphard and Kaylin Sterling, got to practice and then perform with the Mighty Sound of Maryland (University of Maryland Marching Band) on Saturday during the UMD football game versus Rutgers. They practiced with the band, got to be in the parade to the stadium, and then had pregame, halftime, and post-game performances. Thank you to the Mighty Sound of Maryland for giving high school students this amazing opportunity and shoutout to Gabi and Kaylin for taking advantage of this and doing an amazing job!

The 2024-25 season is underway and we are a little over 1 month away from our annual holiday tournament. I wanted to announce that this year we are officially and permanently re-naming the tournament “The Pat Briscoe Memorial Holiday Wrestling Tournament” in honor of the founding father of Parkside Wrestling and National Wrestling Hall of Fame member Pat Briscoe who passed away this past summer. Coach Briscoe started this tournament back in 1968 when he was the head coach at James M. Bennett HS. He brought the tournament to Parkside when the school opened (and he became the head coach) in 1975. This tournament has certainly withstood the test of time as this year will be the 55th season the tournament will be held. Interesting fact: the only season the tournament was not held was in 2021 when the wrestling season was cancelled state-wide due to COVID. Attached is a 1968 article from The Daily Times about the very first tournament (thank you to Matt Melvin for posting this on his Facebook page BloodxTime A History of Wrestling on the Eastern Shore). As you can see this tournament has grown over the years, starting with 4 teams in its inception to 14 teams this year. We are truly honored to be able to recognize Coach Briscoe and all that he meant not only to Parkside Wrestling but also what he meant to the wrestling community state-wide. More details will be forthcoming in the next few weeks about the dedication and other tournament specifics.

2024 Parkside Rams Soccer team...will always be champions in our hearts and will go down as one of the greatest soccer teams in Parkside High history. They had an undefeated season during the regular season and only lost 1-0 in the state championship game to one of the best teams in the state, regardless of classification. Coach Kollin Boog and his staff led this team to the state finals game which has only occurred 4 times in the 49 years of Parkside. This team's legacy will last forever and we won't forget about this team anytime soon. Thank you to our seniors who played at their best when it mattered most. You will not be forgotten and we can't wait to celebrate your graduation in May 2025. 2024 Parkside Boys Soccer team, hold those heads high...you are champions and we love you all! 💚🤍🐏⚽️🐏🤍💚

RAMFAM, who's ready for a PARADE (don't worry, no clowns)??? Tomorrow, we will have a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SENDOFF PARADE for our Parkside Boys Soccer team from 2:30 till 2:45 through the hallways of Parkside CTE. Our parade will be led by our amazing Parkside Cheerleaders and the Parkside Marching RAMS, and then our Parkside Boys Soccer team! RAMFAM, wear your green and white Parkside gear, paint your hair green, make some posters to show our team, and be ready to make some noise and cheer on our soccer team! We've supported them all year, so let's make tomorrow special for them before they leave Saturday morning for Loyola University and the state championship game! 💚🤍🐏⚽️🐏🤍💚
